Spoon // The Underdog
Eric and I saw Pokey Lafarge in Indianapolis a couple nights ago. Without a doubt, it was the best show I’ve ever been to. Pokey is an awesome guy, and his bandmates are all incredibly talented.

Alabama Shakes: Hold On
I heard this band play at the 2012 Americana Music Awards this past fall. I enjoyed their sound, but I did not listen to their record immediately after hearing their performance. Over the past two days, I thought about that performance and wanted to listen the record. I heard this song, and the first two lines brought me to tears. I will be turning 22 in several weeks, and Brittany Howard’s lyric really encompassed exactly how I have been feeling. I am preparing to graduate from college in several months. Also, I am working on my first record with my band. I really believe I am understanding more and more who I am, who I want to be and who I need to be. I would not be who I am today without God, my family and my truly amazing friends (they are the greatest people I have ever met), and my bandmates. I was humbled by this song and was encouraged by it, life is not always easy to think I will be 22 is really humbling right now. I hope that those who read this and hear the song are too. What a genuine band, with a songs that make you feel real, that make you feel alive, that make you feel apart of the human experience. This is why I believe we have music and were blessed with opportunity to use it as a means of communication and expression.
I was not expecting that voice to come out of that chick.
I hope the weather holds, but you don’t need the sun to make you shine
So come on and let’s wash each other
with tears of joy and tears of grief,
and fold our lives like crashing waves,
and run up on this beach.

It’s about time Condon and Co. came out with another video! My favorite song off The Rip Tide, no less.
